Rooted in Story

Since 2003, Mo has worked as writer, teacher and editor. In her early career Mo taught Business Communications and English as an Additional Language. Her years spent working with international students, travelling and exploring the world inspired her to write, and in 2015 she received her Masters in Fine Arts in Creative Nonfiction from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. Her own memoir, Unpacked: from PEI to Palawan  (Pottersfield Press) tackles a family journey under extraordinary circumstances, and was published in 2017.

Living the power of transformative writing, Mo decided to give a voice to others by launching her own digital nonfiction platform Cargo Literary, a literary magazine in which she served as Editor and shared the stories of hundreds of writers over a period of five years, from 2014-2019.  This period of grace also saw the arrivals of her son, Ari & daughter, Veda, siblings for big sister Leila.

Voice for a Community

Working in her hometown of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island,  she joined the PEI Writer’s Guild as the Executive Director in 2018. During this time, she founded a writing & publishing conference —  the Wild Threads Literary Festival  designed to both showcase Canadian literary talent, and also to educate and inspire her community, and was the Artistic Director from 2019 – 2023. During this time, Mo continued to freelance edit, and started book coaching, with a mandate to help others workshop their manuscripts and to put their books together.
