book coaching could be for you

Everyone needs a cheerleader.

If you are working on a writing project that’s gathering cobwebs, then maybe it’s time to blow the dust off! A book coach can help you:

PRIORITIZE. It’s time to focus your energy on getting your manuscript ready. Book coaches can help you with revision, structural editing, and do some of the heavy lifting that’s required to get a book out into the world.

MAKE TIME. Set clear chapter targets for your project, and then start banging it out. A coach can help you voice the aspirations, do weekly check-ins, and revise your material once it comes in, so you can start crushing your goals!

PERSEVERE. Producing a manuscript is a marathon, not a sprint! In the middle comes training — that’s the hard part. Working with a coach can help you keep hammering away, or give you a much needed rest when you need it. It’s your book; it deserves your best work.

FIGURE OUT WHAT YOUR MESSAGE IS .
Are you drowned out by mixed messages on social media, say this, don’t say that, write this, don’t write that? Writing groups and online platforms can sometimes open a pandora’s box of messaging. Tune out the social and think of what you want to say. What will writing this book accomplish for you, and what about for the world?

BUILD THAT NARRATIVE ARC.
Chapter length, research needed, scene work, dialogue — it’s all part of a plan to finish the work. Story-building can be a difficult process but when you find the right curve, it can all come together. A book coach can help you think meta about your book; especially in narrative nonfiction.

MAKE A PUBLISHING PLAN.
Are we there yet? If you want to publish traditionally, I can help you make a list of publishing houses or agents that might be suitable to look at your work, and help you craft a query letter that grabs attention.

As an editor, I work with all kinds of writers. If you are a first-time author navigating choppy waters, if you don’t want to do it alone, or if you need help getting “unstuck” in your manuscript, I can get you there!
